A Plan Tailored to What You Need

From a cosmetic refresh to our flagship elite restoration, choose the scope that fits your home, your budget and how long you need the finish to last.

Three levels of scope, one right fit for your home

No two homes need the same scope of work, and no two owners want the same thing from a repaint. Some clients want a sharp, cost-effective refresh, some want a solid middle ground, and others want the longest-lasting finish we can deliver, backed by our 10-year workmanship warranty.

That is why every project starts with a conversation about the result you want, not just a coat count. Your on-site estimator will walk through the property with you, talk through the options honestly, and tailor a plan that fits what your home needs and what you want to spend.

Choose Your Level

Refresh, repaint or full restoration

Cosmetic Refresh

A Sharp, Cost-Effective Refresh

If you are preparing a home for sale, freshening up a rental, or working to a defined budget, a cosmetic refresh delivers the biggest visual lift for the lowest spend.

  • Cost-effective option for refresh and resale work
  • Cosmetic improvement, not a long-term coating system
  • Clear scope so there are no surprises

Weatherboard Homes

When we walk a weatherboard property with you, we will talk through these choices so you know exactly what each level of preparation delivers and how it affects the life of the finish.

Preparation level

Cosmetic refresh
Minimal preparation
  • Basic preparation and repaint
  • Cosmetic improvement only
  • Suitable for sale or a quick refresh, not for long-term performance
5-year option
Semi-restoration
  • Remove loose and failing paint only
  • Spot strip and sand to a sound base where required
  • Cost-effective balance of appearance and durability
10-year warranty option
Full restoration
  • Comprehensive paint stripping to weatherboards
  • Sand back to a sound substrate
  • Full DH 5-coat system across body, trim and primer to specification
  • Maximum coating performance and longevity
  • Restores an old home to look new again, the signature DH finish

Weatherboard gaps and timber repair options

Seal gaps beneath weatherboards

We seal visible gaps beneath weatherboards where practical, giving the finish a tighter, more uniform appearance across the facade.

Grain filling for a refined finish

Surfaces are grain filled with Polyfilla Exterior Timber, with deeper holes and defects repaired using the Evermend Epoxy Wood Repair system. This delivers the signature "Wrapped Look" DH is known for.

Leave the timber natural

No timber filling. Original imperfections remain, retaining the character and natural texture of the weatherboards.

Exterior

Render Homes

Rendered surfaces behave differently to timber. The right system depends on whether you need a cosmetic refresh or long-term protection against cracking and weather.

Cosmetic refresh
Refresh
  • Basic surface preparation and repaint
  • Cosmetic improvement only
  • Suitable for sale or a quick refresh, not for long-term performance
5-year option
Taubmans All Weather two-coat system
  • Surface preparation and clean down
  • Rake out hairline cracks and apply caulking agent
  • Prime patches and bare areas as required
  • Two coats of Taubmans All Weather exterior membrane over sound render
10-year warranty option
Full Armawall membrane system
  • V-joints cut into any cracks over 1mm and polyurethane sealant applied flush for a uniform finish
  • Full prime with Taubmans Armawall solvent-based primer
  • Taubmans Armawall membrane coating over primed substrate
  • Anti-carbonation protection and superior colour retention
  • Maximum crack resistance, waterproofing and coating longevity

Important to know

  • The refresh is cosmetic only and does not address substrate defects or future cracking. Best suited to short-term presentation, not long-term protection.
  • The Taubmans All Weather two-coat system suits homes in sound condition that need reliable all-weather performance over the medium term.
  • The Armawall membrane system bridges hairline movement and seals the substrate. Recommended where cracking is present and our long-term performance option, eligible for the 10-year workmanship warranty.
Interior

Standard Interiors

For most homes built post-1970, the right interior scope comes down to how long you want the finish to last and how high-end you want it to look. These are the three tiers we will talk you through on site.

Cosmetic refresh
Single-coat refresh
  • Single coat throughout in Taubmans Pure Performance
  • Only suitable when keeping the same colour and walls are in decent condition
  • Cosmetic refresh, not a full coating system
5-year option
Two-coat repaint
  • Two-coat system throughout in Taubmans Pure Performance
  • Priming applied where existing enamel is present
  • No caulking to skirting, wall or floor junctions
  • No additional coats to trim
  • Neat, quality finish to Australian Standards
10-year warranty option
Premium finish
  • Diligent defect repair and wall patching prior to undercoating
  • Caulking to skirting, wall and floor junctions
  • Full prime to all doors and trim, plus at least 3 top coats in Taubmans Premium water-based enamel
  • Undercoat plus at least 2 top coats to walls in Taubmans Endure
  • Durable, high-end finish, the signature DH interior result
Interior

Period Interiors

Period homes need a different conversation. Older substrates, lead paint risk and the level of restoration you want all shape the scope. We walk you through each tier and the optional extras before quoting.

  • Basic pole sanding to surfaces
  • Priming applied where existing enamel is present
  • Basic coating system without additional coats to trim
  • Neat, quality finish to Australian Standards
10-year warranty option
Premium restoration finish
  • Machine sanding to surfaces prior to coating
  • Undercoat throughout, with extra coats to trim for a full, sheeny, high-end look
  • Caulking to skirting and floor junctions where applicable (omitted on timber floors where gaps can crack)
  • Full prime to doors and trim, plus at least 3 top coats in Taubmans Premium water-based enamel
  • Undercoat plus at least 2 top coats to walls in Taubmans Endure

Optional paint stripping back to bare substrate

Many period homes carry decades of accumulated paint, which can soften original profiles on pressed metal, blur the crispness of cornices and mouldings, and leave doors and trim with multiple old coating systems sitting on top of each other. Stripping back to bare substrate restores the original detail and gives every new coat a sound surface to bond to.

It is a slow and specialised process, so it significantly affects cost and is always quoted separately. We will walk you through each area you might want stripped and recommend where it is worth the investment:

  • Pressed metal ceilings
  • Ceilings
  • Walls
  • Doors
  • Trim, skirting and architraves

Depending on the substrate and the existing coating, we use a combination of chemical strippers, heat and careful mechanical sanding. The right method changes from surface to surface, which is why a proper on-site inspection matters before any stripping work is committed to.

Lead paint: coatings on pre-1970s homes may contain lead. Where indicated, lead-safe removal is required, including containment, controlled removal and certified waste disposal. This protects your household and our team, and may add to the cost.
